Enhancing Local Arms Control and Risk Reduction in Ukraine
Partner: The Small Arms Survey
Donor: NORAD through Norwegian People’s Aid.
Project implementation period: June 2025–December 2025.

Ukraine’s local authorities provide essential services to civilians and veterans while also contending with small arms-related challenges such as armed violence and proliferation. Partnering with Small Arms Survey and the Center for Security Studies ‘CENSS’, this project aims to help these institutions’ efforts to mitigate these issues through providing needs assessments and capacity support.
By generating data and knowledge and developing tailored training to support local government actors, the work undertaken in this project aims to strengthen small arms and light weapons control and risk-reduction capacities of relevant stakeholders in Ukraine.
The project aims to contribute to the reduction of the risks related to armed violence and the proliferation and misuse of illicit arms and ammunition at a local and national level through providing needs assessments and capacity support.
