On June 26, 2024, Executive Director of CENSS, Victoriia Voronina, participated as a speaker at a seminar titled “Beyond Borders in Promoting Human Rights and Fighting Disinformation (Fake News) in the Peace Process and Humanitarian Response”. The event was organized by the public organization Institute for Democracy and Development (GO I4DD), as part of the project “Enhancing Women’s Cohesion in Peace Processes and Sustainable Humanitarian Response” in partnership with UN Women and GO I4DD, through the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF).
The seminar brought together journalists and communication professionals from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and media institutions.
During the seminar, Victoriia Voronina discussed the impact of the “Russian peace” concept on the media landscape, highlighting the extensive network of Russian institutions authorized to exert influence, including on media in the “near abroad” countries. She presented examples of Russian information campaigns in Ukraine and other countries, shared Ukrainian experience in countering such campaigns, and emphasized the role of both governmental and non-governmental sectors in shaping media narratives. Additionally, she provided recommendations for countering Russian propaganda.
